If you’re searching for a Xero promo code in the USA, here’s the first thing I’d tell you: don’t assume an old discount is still active. Xero changes promotional campaigns, and the public offer can be different from an affiliate campaign or a regional promotion.
I’m Janak Uparkoti, an accountant and the founder/editor of eComBuilderInsider. I cover Xero promotions because pricing matters, but I don’t think a discount should be the reason you choose accounting software in the first place.
nnIs there a Xero promo code in the USA?
There can be promotional offers for new Xero customers, but the exact discount, duration, eligible plans, and signup method can change.
As of the latest public Xero US pricing information I checked, Xero is advertising 80% off a plan for the first 3 months on its pricing page. The same page also advertises a one-month-free option.
That is different from the older “80% off for six months” wording that appears in some promotional content. So here’s where I’d be careful: check the actual offer displayed after clicking the referral link before you subscribe.
Do you actually need a promo code?
Usually, software promotions work through a qualifying signup link rather than a box where you manually type a coupon.
That’s why I prefer saying “Xero promo offer” rather than promising that a specific code will work forever. If the promotion is attached to the referral link, the discount should appear during the signup process when the account qualifies.
What should you check before paying?
- Eligibility: confirm that the offer applies to new customers.
- Plan: check which Xero plans qualify.
- Duration: confirm exactly how many months are discounted.
- Regular price: write down the price after the promotion.
- Add-ons: check whether payroll, payments, or other services are priced separately.
- Country: make sure you’re looking at the US offer rather than another region.
Why the regular price matters
A discount can make an accounting platform look dramatically cheaper for the first few months. That’s useful, but your business won’t run on promotional pricing forever.
Xero’s current US pricing page lists regular plan prices after the promotional period. For example, its current displayed Established price is $90/month after the initial promotional period.
So I recommend calculating the cost over 12 months. That gives you a much more realistic comparison with QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Zoho Books, or Wave.
Which Xero plan should you choose?
Don’t choose the plan simply because it has the biggest discount.
Look at your invoice volume, bills, reporting needs, inventory requirements, currencies, projects, and the people who need access. Xero’s US plans currently include features such as invoicing, bank reconciliation, reporting, bill management, sales tax, and other tools, with higher tiers adding more advanced capabilities.

If the entry plan already covers your workflow, paying more just to get a larger discount isn’t saving money.
How I’d use a Xero promotion
- Compare Xero with the alternatives first.
- Choose the plan based on your accounting requirements.
- Open the current promotional/referral link.
- Confirm the discount on the signup screen.
- Check the full-price renewal amount.
- Only then enter payment details.
That takes a few extra minutes and can prevent an unpleasant surprise later.
Xero promo code vs free trial
A discount and a trial solve different problems.
A free trial lets you test whether Xero works for your business. A promotional price reduces the cost once you decide to subscribe. If you’re unsure about the software, I’d test the workflow first rather than letting a large discount push you into a decision.

My view on Xero discounts
A good discount is a bonus, not a reason to choose the software.
If Xero fits your bookkeeping workflow and the current offer lowers the cost, great. But if the software doesn’t fit your business, 80% off is still 100% of the wrong software.

Why I don’t call every discount a coupon code
Accounting-software promotions often work through referral or signup links. The customer doesn’t necessarily type a code. The important part is whether the qualifying offer is recognized when the account is created.
Check the final checkout screen
Before you enter payment information, look at the plan name, discount percentage, promotional duration, renewal price, and billing frequency. Take a screenshot for your own records if the offer is important to your decision.
Who should skip the promotion?
If you’re still unsure whether Xero fits your business, don’t let a discount create urgency. Test the software first. Saving money on a platform you don’t want to use isn’t really saving money.
