Pricing
Zoho Books is meaningfully cheaper at every plan tier, and its free plan (for businesses under a revenue threshold) has no direct Xero equivalent.
Ecosystem
Zoho Books is one part of a much larger Zoho suite (CRM, Inventory, Projects, Payroll in supported regions). If you already use other Zoho products, the integration is seamless. Xero has a broader third-party app marketplace instead of an in-house suite.
Ease of use
Xero has a slightly cleaner, more modern interface and is generally considered easier to learn for someone with no accounting background. Zoho Books has more depth but a steeper learning curve.
Support and reliability
Xero has a larger user base and more third-party tutorials, community answers, and accountant familiarity, which matters when you eventually hand books off to a bookkeeper.
Bottom line
Zoho Books wins on price and ecosystem fit if you are already in Zoho. Xero wins on ease of use and the ability to find an accountant who already knows the software.
